Custom Database
By default, ETN uses the official standard Notion database template. If you want to clip content into your own existing Notion database, use the custom database feature.

What is custom database?
ETN offers two database modes:
| Mode | Description | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| ⚡ ETN Standard Database | Uses the official ETN template with all fields pre-configured — works out of the box | New users, quick start |
| 🗄️ My Database | Uses your own Notion database with custom field mapping | Users with an existing knowledge base |
Selecting "My Database" mode lets you write clipped content into any Notion database you've created, with full control over field mapping.
Switch database mode
The top of the database configuration page shows two mode cards — tap either to switch.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Tap "ETN Standard Template" | Switch back to standard mode — zero configuration |
| Tap "Custom Database" | Switch to custom mode and select your own Notion database |
Important:
- Switching takes effect immediately for all subsequent clips
- Switching does not lose your configuration: switching to standard mode preserves your custom mapping — it's still there when you switch back
- Previously clipped content is unaffected — it stays in its original database
- All clients (Mini Program, extension, web) share the same database configuration — switching on one client applies everywhere
Configuration steps
1. Open the database settings page
Option A: Via the Chrome extension
Open the extension sidebar, switch to the "Settings" tab, find "Database settings", and click to open the configuration page.
Option B: Via the Mini Program
Mini Program → Personal center → Database configuration.
Option C: Direct link
Open ETN Database Settings in your browser.
2. Select "Custom Database" mode
Tap the "Custom Database" card at the top of the page.
3. Select your target Notion database
Choose the database you want to write to from the dropdown. The list shows all databases you authorized ETN to access.
If your database doesn't appear in the dropdown, you may not have selected that page during authorization. Click "Re-authorize" and make sure to include the page containing your target database.
4. Auto-match fields
After selecting a database, ETN reads all its properties and attempts to auto-match them to ETN's standard fields.
For example:
- A "Title" property of type
title→ auto-matched to ETN's "Title" field - A "Link" property of type
url→ auto-matched to ETN's "Link" field - A "Tags" property of type
multi_select→ auto-matched to ETN's "Tags" field
5. Manually adjust mapping
Auto-matching isn't always accurate. You can adjust each field's mapping manually.
In the field mapping table, the left column shows your Notion database properties and the right column shows ETN's standard fields. Use the dropdown to select which ETN field each Notion property maps to, or select "Don't map" to skip it.
Mapping rules:
- Each Notion property can only map to one ETN field
- Each ETN field can only be mapped by one Notion property (no duplicates)
- "Title" is required — you must map it before saving
- Unmapped ETN fields are skipped during clipping
- Only compatible types can be mapped (e.g.
datetype can only map to "Published time" or "Clip time")
6. Save configuration
Once all field mappings look correct, click "Save configuration". After saving, refresh the extension page for the changes to take effect.

FAQ
Does custom database support bulk clipping?
Yes. Bulk Xiaohongshu clipping, auto-clip on like, and all other clipping methods work with custom database mode — content is written according to your configured field mapping.
Can I switch back to standard mode at any time?
Yes. Go back to database settings and tap the "ETN Standard Template" card. Your custom configuration is preserved and will be there when you switch back. The switch applies to all clients simultaneously.
What if my database doesn't have certain fields?
No problem. Unmapped ETN fields are automatically skipped during clipping without affecting functionality. You only need to ensure the "Title" field is mapped.
What if auto-matching is inaccurate?
Click the "Re-detect" button to run auto-matching again. You can also manually adjust any field's mapping using the dropdown menu.
