You need to authorize ETN to access your Notion workspace before clipping.
- After login, click the ⚙️ settings tab
- Expand the "Notion Connection" section
- Click the "Binding status" row (showing "Not connected")
- Notion's authorization page opens automatically
- Select the workspace to connect and click "Allow access"
- Return to the extension and refresh — status changes to "Connected"
Configure your target database
After authorization, tell ETN which Notion database to save content to:
- In the "Notion Connection" section, click "Database settings → Configure"
- Your browser opens the ETN database configuration page
- Select or create a Notion database and complete the field mapping
4. Web clipping
After logging in and connecting Notion, click the ETN icon on any webpage and select the "Web Clip" tab.
ETN automatically detects the current website and switches to the best clipping mode.
4.1 Full-page mode
Use case: Any webpage — WeChat articles, Zhihu posts, Bilibili video pages, YouTube, Jike, general websites.
Full-page mode saves the complete content of the current page (title, body, images) to Notion.
Steps:
- Open the page you want to clip
- Click the ETN extension icon
- Confirm you're on the "Web Clip" tab — the panel shows the auto-detected title and URL
- Optional: edit the title, add tags, write a note
- Click "Clip to Notion →"
After a successful clip, a green confirmation appears at the bottom. Click "Open in Notion" to view it directly.
Platforms with optimized parsing:
| Platform | Auto-extracted content |
|---|---|
| WeChat Official Accounts | Title, author, body, images |
| Bilibili | Video title, uploader, description |
| YouTube | Video title, channel name |
| Jike | Post title, author |
| General webpages | Page title, body text |
4.2 Card mode
Use case: Clip a single post from a feed page (e.g. Xiaohongshu explore, Zhihu feed, Twitter timeline) rather than the whole page.
Card mode supports: Xiaohongshu, Zhihu, Twitter / X, Weibo
When you visit these platforms, a mode switcher appears at the top of the "Web Clip" tab.
Steps:
- Visit a supported platform (e.g. Xiaohongshu, Zhihu)
- Open the ETN panel and click "🃏 Card mode"
- Click "Select a card"
- Your cursor enters selection mode — click the post, answer, or tweet you want to clip
- A preview (title, author, summary) appears in the panel
- Optional: add tags and a note
- Click "Clip to Notion →"
Deselect: Click the ✕ on the preview card, or click "Card mode" to reselect.
5. Screenshot clipping
Screenshot clipping saves image content (screenshots or clipboard images) directly to Notion.
Click the "Screenshot" tab. ETN offers three methods:
Option A: Capture visible page
Click "Capture current page" to screenshot the current browser viewport.
Option B: Area selection (recommended)
- Click "Select area"
- A semi-transparent overlay appears, cursor becomes a crosshair
- Click and drag to select the area you want
- Release — the screenshot appears in the panel preview
Option C: Paste from clipboard
- Take a screenshot with your system tool (Windows
Win+Shift+S, MacCmd+Ctrl+Shift+4) - Return to the ETN panel and click "Paste image"
After confirming the screenshot, optionally add tags, then click "Clip to Notion →".
6. Bulk clipping
Bulk clipping archives large amounts of content at once. Currently supports Xiaohongshu and Weibo.
6.1 Xiaohongshu bulk clipping
Trigger: When you visit a Xiaohongshu user profile (/user/profile/...) or collection page (/board/...), a bulk clipping banner automatically appears at the top of the panel.
Steps:
- Open the target user's Xiaohongshu profile (can be your own)
- Click the ETN icon — a "📦 Xiaohongshu profile detected" banner appears
- Click "Start collecting"
- The extension auto-scrolls and shows the collection count in real time
- A table appears showing all collected posts
- Check tags for each post (or select all)
- Click "Start clipping" — the extension opens each post and clips it
Notes:
- Configure your image storage (see section 8) before bulk clipping, otherwise images may not display correctly
- Failed posts are retried up to 2 times automatically
- Click "Stop" at any time to interrupt
6.2 Weibo bulk clipping
Trigger: When you visit a Weibo profile, the panel shows a banner automatically.
Same workflow as Xiaohongshu:
- Open a Weibo profile
- Banner: "Weibo profile detected"
- Click "Start collecting" → auto-scroll
- Preview dialog → select tags → start clipping
7. Reader mode (video)
Reader mode is designed for Bilibili videos, providing an immersive "video + subtitles + notes" experience.
Prerequisite: Enable "Reader mode" in settings first (off by default).
Enable Reader mode
- Go to ⚙️ Settings → "Storage & More" → turn on "Reader mode"
- Open any Bilibili video page
- A "🎬 Enter Reader mode" button appears at the top of the ETN panel
- Click to enter the immersive view
Reader mode features
The page splits into two halves:
- Top: Original video player (all native controls preserved)
- Bottom: Subtitle / notes panel
Subtitles:
- Click any subtitle line to jump the video to that timestamp
- Add annotations next to subtitles (timestamp + note text)
Export to Notion:
- "Export annotations only": Save only your notes to Notion
- "Full export": Save the complete subtitle transcript + all annotations
Exit: Click the ✕ button at the top.

Changes take effect immediately.
8.4 Storage & more
Expand "Storage & More":
- Reader mode — Toggle; enables the Reader mode entry on Bilibili video pages
- Auto-clip on like — When enabled, liking content on supported platforms automatically triggers clipping
- Xiaohongshu HD images — When enabled, clips the original high-resolution images from Xiaohongshu (Pro required)
8.5 Image storage configuration
Image storage saves the images from clipped content. ETN supports four options:
| Storage | Best for |
|---|---|
| Alibaba Cloud OSS | Users in China — fast and reliable |
| Tencent Cloud COS | Tencent Cloud users |
| Cloudflare R2 | International users — generous free tier |
| Notion | Simplest option — images stored directly in Notion |
Setup (Alibaba Cloud OSS example):
- Click "Image storage → Configure"
- Select the "Alibaba Cloud" tab
- Enter your Endpoint, AccessKey ID, AccessKey Secret, and Bucket name
- Click Save
If you don't configure image storage, images are stored directly in Notion (free but limited).
8.6 Version updates
The "Plugin version" row shows the currently installed version. When an update is available:
- A red dot appears next to the version number
- An "X.X.X available" message appears
- Click to view update details
FAQ
Q: Images aren't showing after clipping?
A: You need to configure image storage (see section 8.5). Without it, platforms like Xiaohongshu use hotlink protection that causes images to appear blank in Notion.
Q: Extension icon is greyed out and won't respond?
A: Some pages (browser built-in pages like chrome://, PDF pages) don't support extension injection — this is normal behavior.
Q: "Notion not connected" error when clipping?
A: You need to complete Notion authorization first (see section 3).
Q: Card mode isn't responding to clicks?
A: Confirm you're on a supported platform (Xiaohongshu, Zhihu, Twitter, Weibo). If you just opened the page, wait a few seconds and try again.
Q: Bulk clipping is very slow?
A: Bulk clipping uses a random delay (5–12 seconds) between each post to avoid platform rate limiting — this is intentional. Please be patient.
If you encounter other issues, click "Export debug log" in the settings panel and send the log file to support.
