Database Configuration
Database configuration determines how clipped content is saved to Notion. ETN provides two modes: Template Mode and Custom Mode.
Configuration Entry
There are two ways to access the database configuration page:
- Mini Program: My → Database Configuration
- After initial binding: The system will automatically prompt for configuration
Template Mode (Recommended for Beginners)
What is Template Mode
Template Mode uses the official ETN database template with 12 preset fields, requiring no manual configuration.
Steps
Step 1: Choose Template During Authorization
- Start Notion authorization in the Mini Program
- Select the workspace where you want the template created
- Choose the "Use developer's template" option
- After authorization, ETN will automatically create the template database in your selected workspace
When you choose "Use developer's template" during authorization, ETN automatically creates the standard template in your workspace — no manual copying required.
Step 2: Start Using
Once the template is created, you can start clipping immediately with no additional configuration needed.

Custom Mode
What is Custom Mode
If you already have a Notion database or want to use your own database structure, you can choose Custom Mode.
Steps
Step 1: Choose Your Own Pages During Authorization
- Start Notion authorization in the Mini Program
- Select the workspace you want to use
- Choose the "Select your own pages" option
- In the page list that appears, select your existing database page to authorize for ETN
Choose "Select your own pages" during authorization, then check the database you want to use for clipping.
Step 2: Configure Field Mapping
- After authorization, go to "My" → "Database Configuration"
- Select the database you authorized
- Map each ETN field to the corresponding Notion property
Configuration Notes:
- Left side shows ETN fields (e.g., "Title", "URL")
- Right side shows your Notion database properties
- Click dropdown to select corresponding property
- Only compatible property types will be shown in options
Step 3: Save Configuration
After confirming the mapping, click "Save Configuration".
Field Type Compatibility
Not all Notion property types can be mapped to ETN fields. Here's the compatibility table:

Note: The "Title" field must be mapped to Notion's Title type property
Required Fields
The following fields must be configured, otherwise clipping won't work properly:

Switching Modes
You can switch between Template Mode and Custom Mode at any time:
- Go to "Database Configuration" page
- Click the mode switch button at the top
- Select new mode and configure
- Save to apply changes
Note: After switching modes, new clips will be saved to the newly configured database. Previously clipped content is not affected.
FAQ
Q: Can't find my database?
A: Please ensure:
- The database is authorized to ETN (selected on Notion authorization page)
- It's a Database type (not a Page)
- Try re-authorizing Notion
Q: Field mapping save failed?
A: Check:
- Is the "Title" field configured?
- Are field types compatible?
- Is the network connection stable?
Q: Will old content remain after changing database?
A: Previously clipped content stays in the original database and won't be lost. New clips will be saved to the newly configured database.
Q: Can I use Notion's linked databases?
A: Yes. The "Tags" field supports mapping to Relation type, which can link to your tags database.
