Screenshot Clipping

Besides web content, ETN extension also supports saving screenshots to Notion, suitable for saving images, partial content, or pages that can't be directly clipped.


Three Screenshot Methods

ETN provides three screenshot methods for different scenarios:

Selection Screenshot

Steps

  1. Click extension icon, switch to "Screenshot" tab
  2. Click "Selection Screenshot" button
  3. A semi-transparent overlay appears on page
  4. Hold left mouse button, drag to select area to screenshot
  5. Release mouse to complete screenshot
  6. Screenshot displays in preview area
How it works

A semi-transparent overlay appears. Drag to select your target area, then release to capture.

Adjust and Confirm

  • If unsatisfied with screenshot, click "Retake"
  • When satisfied, select tags (optional)
  • Add note description (optional)
  • Click "Clip" to save to Notion

Shortcuts

  • ESC - Cancel screenshot
  • Click empty overlay area - Cancel screenshot

Full Page Screenshot

Steps

  1. Click extension icon, switch to "Screenshot" tab
  2. Click "Full Page Screenshot" button
  3. Extension automatically captures current browser window's visible area
  4. Screenshot displays in preview area
  5. Select tags, add notes
  6. Click "Clip" to save
How it works

Captures the currently visible browser area automatically. The result appears in the preview.

Note: Full page screenshot only captures currently visible area, not content that requires scrolling


Clipboard Paste

Steps

  1. First copy an image to clipboard:
    • Right-click image in WeChat chat → Copy
    • Screenshot tool auto-copies after capture
    • Copy image from other apps
  2. Click extension icon, switch to "Screenshot" tab
  3. Press Ctrl+V (Mac: Cmd+V) in preview area
  4. Image auto-loads into preview
  5. Select tags, add notes
  6. Click "Clip" to save
How it works

Press Ctrl+V in the preview area to paste your clipboard image. It loads automatically and is ready to clip.

When saving a screenshot, Notion page includes:

Image Storage

Screenshots are stored according to your settings:

  • Notion (default) - Uploads directly to Notion servers
  • Custom Image Host - Uploads to your configured cloud storage (e.g., Aliyun OSS)

Tip: Notion free plan has file size limits (5MB per file). Use custom image host for large images.


Use Cases

Scenario 1: Save Design Inspiration

See a web design you like, but full page has too much content:

  1. Use selection screenshot to capture just the design part
  2. Add "Design Inspiration" tag
  3. Save to Notion

Scenario 2: Save WeChat Chat Screenshots

Receive important WeChat messages you want to save:

  1. Screenshot or copy image in WeChat
  2. Paste in extension
  3. Add note explaining context
  4. Save to Notion

Scenario 3: Save Un-clippable Content

Some pages may not clip properly (like PDFs, image pages):

  1. Use full page screenshot
  2. Manually enter title
  3. Save to Notion

Scenario 4: Save Data Charts

See a valuable data chart:

  1. Selection screenshot to capture just the chart
  2. Add data explanation as note
  3. Save to Notion

FAQ

Q: Screenshot is blurry?

A: ETN screenshots use original resolution. If it seems blurry:

  1. Check display scaling settings
  2. Try enlarging browser window before screenshot
  3. Use system screenshot tool then paste

Q: Paste image not working?

A: Please ensure:

  1. Clipboard actually contains an image (not a file path)
  2. Focus is inside extension panel
  3. Try clicking preview area first then paste

Q: Screenshot upload failed?

A: Possible causes:

  1. Image too large, exceeds limit
  2. Network connection issues
  3. Notion API temporary failure

Solutions:

  • Compress image and retry
  • Check network connection
  • Try again later

Q: How to screenshot an entire long page?

A: ETN's full page screenshot only captures visible area. For complete long pages, recommend:

  1. Use browser's built-in "Capture full page" feature
  2. Use professional screenshot tools (like FireShot)
  3. Then paste in ETN to save
